Fueled by record audience engagement, category-defining partnerships and continued innovation bridging media and sports, Overtime today announced a new strategic investment led by Eldridge Capital Management, the asset management division of Eldridge. Eldridge has investments across the sports and media landscape including the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Sparks, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Trent Rockets, A24 Films, Fulwell Entertainment, and Religion of Sports, among other significant brands. The financing reflects Overtime’s position as the preeminent sports media and entertainment company serving the next generation of fans.
The investment comes during a period of exceptional momentum for Overtime, highlighted by industry-leading audience growth, expanded commercial partnerships and continued innovation across its portfolio of brands and businesses, including:
- World-class brand partners including adidas, State Farm, T-Mobile, Target, Hershey and Gemini, fueling comprehensive multi-league, multi-year partnerships across the Overtime ecosystem.
- Innovative collaborations with marquee sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and NWSL.
- A series of successful partnerships with NBC, including the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, an exclusive NBC broadcast of the OT7 football finals, and upcoming partnerships for the Navy All-American Bowl and naming an inaugural All-American Girl’s Flag Football team.
- Partnering with FOX One to produce a creator competition show celebrating the World Cup and driving young subscribers to their app. The build-for-social content series has driven over 142MM views.
- Overtime was the #1 TikTok account in the world in May in total views. With 6.2BN views, 1.3BN minutes watched, and 428MM engagements in June, Overtime continues to demonstrate its unmatched ability to shape sports culture and engage Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences at scale.
Since its founding, Overtime has transformed from a digital-first sports publisher into a diversified sports media and entertainment company spanning original content, premium sports leagues, commerce, and live events. Today, its portfolio – including Overtime Elite and Overtime Select in basketball, as well as OT7 and Overtime Nationals in football – reaches hundreds of millions of fans while creating new opportunities for athletes, brands and partners.
“This investment is a strong validation of the business we’ve built and, more importantly, where we’re headed,” said Zack Weiner, Cofounder of Overtime. “We’ve always believed the next generation deserves a different kind of sports company – one built around authentic storytelling, elite competition, culture and innovation. The momentum we’re seeing across our business, not just from an audience and a content growth perspective, but also revenue generation with premier partners, gives us tremendous confidence in what’s next.”
“We believe Overtime has built a dynamic and culturally influential company across media and global sports,” said Jeff Wilbur, Partner and Head of Sports and Entertainment at Eldridge Capital Management. “We feel the company has anticipated where fans are going, built authentic relationships with young audiences, and developed premium intellectual property that has attracted global partners. We look forward to leveraging our industry experience and relationships to support the Overtime team during this exciting time in the company’s development.”
“Overtime’s growth over the past half decade has been remarkable – not only in audience, but in the strength and diversity of the business lines and partnerships it has built,” said Michael Spirito, Managing Partner of 359 Capital and Board Member of Overtime. “The company has created a platform that uniquely sits at the intersection of sports, media, technology and culture, and the leadership team continues to execute with discipline and vision. We are thrilled to welcome our new partners at Eldridge as we all collaborate to help Overtime achieve its next phase of growth.”
The new investment will support Overtime’s continued expansion across premium content, technology, commerce, live sports properties and strategic partnerships as the company continues building the future of sports media and entertainment.
