Sweet Briar Launches SBCommitment 2.0, Expanding Full-Tuition Access for Virginia Women

SBCommitment 2.0 provides full tuition coverage for qualifying Virginia students, expanding access to Sweet Briar’s transformative education.

SWEET BRIAR, VA, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sweet Briar College has announced SBCommitment 2.0, an expanded full-tuition initiative available beginning in January 2027 for eligible incoming first-year and transfer students. The program is designed to make a transformative Sweet Briar education more accessible to qualified Virginia women while strengthening the Commonwealth’s future workforce and leadership pipeline.

Under SBCommitment 2.0, qualifying students may receive full tuition coverage if they meet all five eligibility requirements: they must be Virginia residents, be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, have a family income of $85,000 or less, have a cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.25 or higher, and live on campus while participating in a Sweet Briar College meal plan.

Eligible students receive full tuition coverage through a combination of applicable federal, state, and institutional resources. SBCommitment 2.0 builds on the College’s original SBCommitment program, launched in 2024, by expanding eligibility to include both incoming first-year and transfer students who meet the program requirements.

SBCommitment 2.0 provides students with access to an educational experience built around Sweet Briar’s distinctive philosophy: to learn by doing and to lead by living. Students can work alongside faculty, participate in research, complete internships, present at conferences, study abroad, lead organizations, and gain experience beyond the classroom.

Sweet Briar’s academic environment combines the breadth of the liberal arts with distinctive opportunities in areas such as engineering, environmental science, business, education, the arts, and equestrian studies. Leadership development is also woven throughout the undergraduate experience through the Women’s Leadership Core Curriculum, a ten-course pathway that prepares students to think critically, communicate effectively, solve complex problems, collaborate across disciplines, and lead with purpose.
