VANCOUVER, British Columbia – September 18, 2026 – Robert Lawrence Vancouver is highlighting Havana Vancouver as the Commercial Drive restaurant celebrates its 30th anniversary in September.
Located at 1212 Commercial Drive, Havana opened in 1996 and has spent three decades developing into a familiar part of one of Vancouver’s most distinctive dining and entertainment neighbourhoods.
The milestone gives Robert Lawrence Vancouver an opportunity to look beyond the city’s newest restaurant openings and focus on the staying power of an established neighbourhood restaurant that has continued evolving alongside its community.
Havana describes its food as a combination of authentic Latin flavors, Pacific Northwest style, and a commitment to fresh, local ingredients.
Its current menu ranges from shareable dishes and tacos to sandwiches, seafood, larger plates and weekend brunch.
The Cubano remains one of the restaurant’s most recognizable offerings, combining house porchetta, honey ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickles and yellow mustard on a pressed house Cuban bun.
Other current menu selections include Avocado Tostones with smashed avocado, pico de gallo and cotija cheese; Ceviche made with serrano- and lime-cured Pacific snapper; Carnitas tacos with slow-roasted pork and charred pineapple salsa; and Paella featuring saffron rice, prawns, Manila clams, Pacific snapper and Spanish chorizo.
Havana’s Pacific Northwest influence can also be seen in dishes such as Mussels España, prepared with Salt Spring Island mussels, Spanish chorizo, smoked tomato and white wine.
Pescado en Salsa de Coco pairs pan-roasted mahi mahi with habanero coconut curry, cilantro-lime rice and charred pineapple salsa.
Weekend brunch expands the menu with dishes including the Chorizo Maple Melt, Little Havana Brunch Bowl, Chorizo Hash, Pulled Pork Benny and Chicken and Waffles.
Beyond the menu, Havana’s year-round patio and colourful dining room have become important elements of its Commercial Drive identity.
Throughout September, Havana is celebrating its 30th anniversary with three $30 specials: a Cubano with a margarita or sangria, a taco combination with a margarita or sangria, and an anniversary sangria pitcher.
For Robert Lawrence Vancouver, the milestone illustrates another important part of Vancouver’s restaurant story: longevity.
While new openings frequently dominate restaurant coverage, neighbourhood establishments that survive multiple decades can become part of a city’s cultural memory, connecting generations of diners through meals, celebrations and shared experiences.
The complete Robert Lawrence Vancouver feature examines Havana’s history, current menu, brunch program, patio and continued place in Vancouver’s Commercial Drive dining scene.
